You Can Now Order Pork Shares

This year, we are working closely with a small group of pork producers who focus on producing pasture raised pork.

Our free-range pork is reared in a system that prioritises health and welfare. The pigs have space to roam and root. The pork cuts will come from pigs raised on a high proportion of pasture-approved foods, including fresh pasture, local vegetables, and lucerne silage. They are also raised without the use of antibiotics or added hormones. The pigs also get some grains and a mix of foods to help them achieve essential nutrients and natural growth.

The pigs are allowed to move around freely at all times. Sometimes, they are out in fields, and otherwise, they are in large hay-bedded yards that will enable the pigs to express their natural rooting instincts.

The pigs are not rushed to maturity. They take their time, allowing their bodies to develop the essential extra fat that produces truly flavoursome meat. The result? Succulent pork cuts and joints are deeper pink than those intensively reared alternatives in supermarkets. This is because the pigs have been reared naturally and hung for longer. Our pork is not just your average pork. It’s a testament to our farmers commitment to humane farming practices. The animals are treated compassionately and responsibly by our farmers using regenerative farming methods.

Local Pasture Raised Large Whites

We are sourcing our pasture-raised pigs from farmers in the Atherton Tablelands who use regenerative farming practices.

First recognised in 1868, the Large White pig breed originates from the old Yorkshire breed. Large Whites are distinguished by their erect ears and slightly dished faces. They are long-bodied with excellent hams and fine white hair and, as their name suggests, they are characterised by large size.

These pigs are a favourite in the market. They offer high-quality pork chops, hams, and especially bacon. They produce lean meat with excellent flavour.

Large Whites, with their long, level, and wide-backed physique, are prolific breeders and efficient feed utilisers. Their superior carcass quality and ability to produce lean meat without excess fat instil confidence in their breeders. Their rapid growth and reputation for bacon production further enhance their appeal.
